Three local restaurants are slated for an early summer opening in The Ion and the surrounding innovation district.

Within the 16-acre innovation district, Late August, a new concept by chefs Chris Williams and Dawn Burrell, will join the first brick-and-mortar location for STUFF’d Wings as well as the on-the-go bistro and bakery Common Bond, according to a Feb. 11 news release.

“The new restaurants coming to The Ion and District showcase Houston’s deep culinary culture and local flare that Houstonians identify and connect with,” said Sam Dike, manager of strategic initiatives at Rice Management Company, in the news release. “We’re excited for The Ion and District to be a place that celebrates and supports Houston’s diverse entrepreneurial community.”

Late August will pay homage to the former Sears building that will soon house The Ion when it opens at the end of the first quarter of 2021 by tying into the department store’s catalog, annually released in “late August.”

STUFF’d Wings will offer its chef-driven menu, featuring bone-in chicken wings, in a fast-casual atmosphere adjacent to The Ion.

Inside The Ion, Common Bond will bring its signature cookies, pastries, and croissants when it launches Common Bond On-the-Go Ion, the bakery’s fourth on-the-go-style concept across Greater Houston.
