FRAMINGHAM, MA — A new type of cuisine may soon be available at a former Indian restaurant along Route 9 in Framingham.
A local restaurateur has filed paperwork with the Secretary of the Commonwealth to incorporate a company called Torito Framingham LLC at 1656 Worcester Road. That same restaurateur, Ramon Michel, has recently opened Torito Tex-Mex restaurants in Danvers and Worcester.
1656 Worcester Road is the location of the former Godavari restaurant, which closed about a year ago. Godavari has 20 locations scattered across the U.S. — and one in Canada — including the sole remaining Massachusetts restaurant in Woburn.
Torito opened its Danvers location in February, and the Worcester location in recent weeks. According to the Secretary of the Commonwealth, the Danvers Torito location was incorporated in July 2020, and the Worcester one in November. The Framingham location was incorporated in February. Framingham Licensing Coordinator Diane Willoughby said she had not seen a victualler application for Torito as of Wednesday.
According to public records, Michel has operated Tex-Mex and Italian restaurants in the Indianapolis area, and the Cantina Del Rio Mexican Restaurant in Warwick, RI. He did not immediately return a call seeking comment about the Framingham location.
