Restaurants across Memphis are starting to close dining rooms in response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases.

In a social media post on Thursday, Ben Smith announced he would close the dining room of his Cooper-Young restaurant, Tsunami.

"The most recent surge in this pandemic has launched the state of Tennessee into the new COVID epicenter of the world. As we continue to navigate our way through this pandemic, I will continue to maintain the health and welfare of my staff and guests as my top priority," Smith said. "To that end, I have made the decision to close the restaurant for in-house dining until further notice."

On Friday, Nick Scott echoed Smith's sentiments when he announced the temporary closure of Alchemy.

"In light of the current surge in COVID cases and out of concern for our staff and patrons we have made the decision to temporarily shut down operations after tomorrow night’s (12/19/20) service thru the holidays," Scott said. "This was not an easy decision to make but we feel that it is the right choice to make as we are being left to our own devices to navigate our way through these very unpredictable and uneasy times."
