The coronavirus pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for restaurants. Since March, they have been forced to close their dining rooms, operate at reduced capacity, adjust to takeout and delivery, expand outdoor dining and otherwise adjust to major economic changes.

A number of the restaurants on this list didn't publicly give reasons for closing, but most announcements did come after the start of the pandemic and implementation of rules designed to slow the spread of the disease.

Some local restaurants have closed temporarily. This list does not include those. In cases where it was unclear whether the closure was temporary or permanent, we erred on the side of temporary.
