When in India, you are spoilt for choice when in comes to food. There is so much variety that you literally don't know where to eat and what to eat. On my recent trip to Mumbai, i discovered the country's first 'farm to table' restaurant - Masque and can i just say that i was left speechless. With my travels, i have eaten in some of the best restaurants around the world, so i didn't think i would be as awestruck as i was with Masque and this is primarily because as an Indian i am only used to the traditional Indian food, or, maybe Indian food with a twist when it comes to Indian home grown restaurants. But Masque's head chef Prateek Sadhu has so cleverly and creatively incorporated Indian ingredients in the food that he serves that you are left absolutely amazed. Therefore, it is not surprising that Sadhu won the Himalayan Raw and Fine Chef of the Year in the very first edition of Conde' Nast Traveller's Top Restaurant Awards 2017. The food is contemporary and ingredient driven and more often than not driven by the seasons too but the main emphasis is on the quality and freshness of the produce that is sent to them every week. So, while the olive oil comes from Rajasthan in Northern India, the cheese comes from Andhra Pradesh in Southern India, fish from Andamans in the Bay of Bengal and buckwheat, quinoa and rye from the Himalayas. And not to forget the oysters from South India, passion fruit, asparagus and other exotics from Western India and sea buckthorn from Northern India. Wow - i hear you say...well, i can't stop saying that myself. My specially designed four course meal here was a journey through my diverse country - many parts of which i am yet to see but the flavours of which i am fortunate to have experienced through my meal at Masque. Masque will remain special and a restaurant never to be missed in my 'must dine' list of places to eat in Mumbai. ***VLOG 020*** I have been a traveller for more than a decade now but life always takes over, or, maybe we like to think so....i got busy just travelling, travelling and errr...just travelling. My passion of exploring and loving the world, learning and experiencing new cultures, cuisines and meeting new people had become something that i could not just contain within me.
