On Wednesday, two LA restaurants were hit with a lawsuit for operating outdoor dining while it was banned throughout the county. From November 25 until today, LA County restaurants were forbidden from offering outdoor dining to further stop the spread of coronavirus throughout the region, even as Los Angeles remains a COVID-19 hot spot with a 7,420 daily average infection rate over the last seven days.

The two restaurants listed in the Los Angeles Superior Court suit are Cronies Sports Grill in Agoura Hills and Burbank’s Tinhorn Flats Saloon & Grill. Both establishments have been outspoken in their choice to defy the outdoor dining ban, and the lawsuit is an abatement order that directs both restaurants to bring their businesses into compliance with coronavirus health orders, and allow inspectors in to confirm it, reports Fox-LA.

In a statement, the county noted that Cronies and Tinhorn Flats were cited, given notices, and warned to comply with LA County mandates multiple times. Cronies was cited 13 times in December. Earlier this month, the City of Burbank threatened to revoke Tinhorn’s conditional use permit, which is required for any restaurant to operate. Meanwhile down in Long Beach, public health officials there have gone so far as to turn off the gas and revoke the licensing at Restauration, even charging the owner with multiple criminal misdemeanors for continuing to operate on-site dining during the pandemic.

The multi-colord rig a combination of two prominent South LA businesses, Dulan’s Soul Food and Hotville Chicken, with owners Gregory Dulan and Kim Prince working the truck themselves at future special events and catering gigs throughout the Southland, and beyond. “We’ll get it into communities that can’t get to us, and front-line medical staff. It’s a community truck,” says Prince.
