Nagomiya opens in Midtown for sushi and ramen

Takashi Otsuka, the owner of Wagaya ramen restaurants and robatayaki, sushi, and sake bar Chirori, opened his fourth Atlanta-area restaurant Nagomiya last week at the Tens on West complex on West Peachtree Street. Otsuka also owns Japanese grocery store Wagaya Groceries beneath Wagaya on 14th Street in Home Park.

Nagomiya translates to “house of tranquility” in Japanese. Otsuka hopes to provide a “tranquil, casual Japanese dining experience” at this latest restaurant by taking advantage of the natural light and high ceilings in the dining room and using small ginkgo trees and greenery along the walls as part of the decor.

Serving both lunch and dinner, the menu features ramen, rice bowls, and a large selection of sushi, sushi rolls, and sashimi as well as dishes like karaage fried chicken, teppan hamburg steak, and panko prawns. Reservations are currently required to dine in, with seating inside, on the patio, and at the bar. [Instagram]

Food truck Che Butter Jonez opens as a restaurant in southwest Atlanta

Occupy the Hood activist Malik Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan opened a permanent location of their popular food truck Che Butter Jonez as a restaurant next door to a Chevron on Cleveland Avenue in southwest Atlanta. Known best for the That Sh!T Slambing burger, the menu changes daily at Che Butter Jonez the restaurant but will include the oft-ordered lamb burger, along with bodega-style breakfast dishes, tacos on Tuesday, and snacks like parmesan truffle popcorn and crispy fried Brussels sprouts.

Rhasaan and Fox-Quinlan got Che Butter Jonez rolling as a food truck in 2018. Three years later, Che Butter Jonez has become one of Atlanta’s most popular mobile food businesses, frequenting the Met complex in West End and Triton Yards food truck park on Sylvan Road. Brown Bag Seafood opens at Westside Provisions District

A second Atlanta location of Chicago restaurateur Donna Lee’s Brown Bag Seafood Company is now open at Westside Provisions District. The counter-service spot, serving sustainable seafood as salads, tacos, sandwiches, and grain bowls, opened inside the former Little Star cafe space, between Jeni’s Ice Cream and home design store Serena and Lily. What the Truck food truck park opens in Bankhead

Food truck park What the Truck is now open at 1060 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in Bankhead, What Now Atlanta reports. A collaboration between Tenth Street Ventures developer Brian McCarthy and Atlanta artist Tyree Smith, What the Truck brings area artists and food entrepreneurs together at the food park. Open Thursday - Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a $5 charge after 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. [WNA]
