Igloos and Beerland just a few ways restaurants and breweries are getting creative

As restaurants and breweries are allowed to reopen at 50 percent capacity, we’re expecting some creativity among businesses to get a reluctant public to leave the house in January.

We’re already seeing it from a few.

INDEED BREWING’S BEERLAND

Indeed Brewing (711 15th Ave. N.E., Minneapolis; 612-843-5090), the popular Northeast Minneapolis brewery, is spreading tables throughout its brewery, even to the loading dock and milling rooms, and also using the currently empty space at Chowgirls Catering upstairs. The brewery’s two current taproom spaces will also be seated at a lower capacity, and the patio will be open for the truly hardy. They’re calling their new concept Beerland, and you can expect some fun surprises — like “hot beer flips” outside, and plush carpet and cushy seats in the mill room. There’s also a takeout window for beer to go if you’re not into being inside. More information at indeedbrewing.com.

IGLOOS FOR PERSONAL DINING

At Hope Breakfast Bar (1 S. Leech St., St. Paul; 651-330-8996), they’ve installed a giant, inflatable igloo that contains just a few tables. It’s heated, but there are two doors that allow for ventilation. You can reserve tables at hopebreakfast.com.

CRAVE restaurants in Woodbury and Maple grove are offering smaller, tent-like igloos for personal, heated dining in the outdoors. Make a reservation at craveamerica.com.

In addition, many restaurants and breweries are keeping their patios open during the pandemic, no matter the weather. As always, check with your favorite spot.
