Bite of Brown Week in Tallahassee, a week designed to highlight some of the the cities African American owned restaurants.

"And we just wanted to do a little small token that we can to drive our customers to these different black-owned establishments and hopefully drive their sales up to where it's impactful to them on the day that we highlight them," said Christian Streat, Co-Founder of Dream Marketing Group.

Together, with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, their plan is to highlight one African American owned business a day, offering deals throughout the week.

Their goal is to get more eyes on businesses in hopes that it leads to new customers for restaurants like Island OMG! Seafood, the Thomasville business that expanded in January with a location now in Tallahassee.

"Sometimes we don't get enough promotion or advertisement as some of the other businesses do, so for them to highlight us and we just started out in January we're grateful," said Felicia Stanley, Owner of Island OMG! Seafood.

Island will kickoff the week Monday, with the Gilliam Sisters Soulfood wrapping things up Sunday.

"It's amazing," said Co-Owner Yashica Gilliam. "So we just love networking, we love providing great food and a wonderful atmosphere."

The restaurant just opened in February and Gilliam hopes this extra attention and their menu will help make them a go to spot.

"Here being in a college city, they don't always get that when they're in school and so, to get a little taste of home," said Gilliam.
