— A campaign to help promote Black restaurants in the Triangle kicks off this weekend.

Black Restaurant Week, LLC, will celebrate the flavors of African American, African and Caribbean cuisines at restaurants in Raleigh and Durham from Friday, April 23, to Sunday, May 2.

During the week, participating restaurants will be offering prix-fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus for dine-in or take-out.

Participating restaurants include The Chicken Hut, Zweli’s Kitchen & Catering, Bon Fritay, Sweetheart Treats, Uncorked Raleigh, Pure Soul, Boricua Soul, Big C’s Waffles and Mike D’s BBQ. See a list of participating restaurants on the Black Restaurant Week website.

Black Restaurant Week has been doing multi-city showcases since 2016, but this is the group's first time in Durham and Raleigh.

Black Restaurant Week, LLC teamed up with the No Crumb Left Behind campaign for the event, which is focused on helping the industry after a tough year due to COVID-19. Participation fees were waived for restaurants this year.

“The No Crumb Left Behind campaign is to ensure that we are helping as many culinary businesses stay afloat as the world recovers from the pandemic,” Black Restaurant Week Marketing Director Derek Robinson said. “We are adding more activations and working with additional partners to present programming to serve our full audience of restaurants, bakeries, caterers, chefs and food trucks.”
