Festival of Trees

Hosanna Industries is playing host to its ninth annual Festival of Trees on Nov. 20 and 21.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20, when Santa is scheduled to make an appearance.

The hours on Nov. 21 are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m..

The event at Quality Gardens, 209 Route 228 in Valencia, features beautifully designed Christmas trees as well as handmade holiday decorations and Christmas decor available for purchase.

Proceeds benefit the organization’s mission to help needy families.

Women’s Business Network

Part networking group, part mastermind group, Women’s Business Network provides members with the tools to be successful while expanding their circle of influence and marketplace. All professional women are welcome to attend as a guest at the meeting for no charge.

At the time of publication, many meetings were being held virtually. Please check with the local chapter representative for more information.

The Cranberry Chapter meets at 7:30 a.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month at Cranberry United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Rochester Road, Cranberry. The next meeting is Nov. 19, and guests are welcome to attend at no cost. For more information, contact Nancy Wood at 724-316-3427.

The Criders Corners Chapter meets at noon on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at The Sports Grille, 1294 Freedom Road, Cranberry Township. Girl Scouts to hold Thanksgiving food drive

Girls from Troop #36774 will be holding a food drive at the McCandless Crossing shopping center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14.

Donations will be used to create “Everything but the Turkey” dinner kits for Thanksgiving that the Scouts will supply to the West View Hub Food Pantry for distribution during the holidays.

The girls will be set up on the Town Green between Old Navy and Ethan Allen to collect donations of the following items: instant stuffing, jars or packets of turkey gravy, canned cranberry sauce, canned fruit or pumpkin “complete” pie filling, boxed pie crust mix, canned yams or sweet potatoes, canned vegetables, take-and-bake bread and baked goods mixes.

Difficult-to-recycle event scheduled in Pine

Pine will host an event to collect difficult-to-recycle items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 21.

Environmental Coordination Services and Recycling Inc. will be in the municipal parking lot at 230 Pearce Mill Road to collect TV sets, computer monitors, small appliances that contain Freon, fluorescent bulbs, batteries and other electronics.

Registration is required, and a fee is charged for the items dropped off.

Virtual divorce workshop for women

A three-hour workshop is being offered online Nov. 14 to provide women with education and information on the legal, financial and emotional issues associated with divorce.

The workshop will be held via video conference from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The cost is $15 per person, and registration is required by Nov. 12 by calling Donna Cheswick at 724-493-9695. Once registered, online instructions will be emailed.

Honor Society plans Thanksgiving food drive

The National Honor Society at North Hills High School and the Class of 2021 are teaming up to host the annual Thanksgiving food drive to help families in the district who are in need.

Food will be collected from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at North Hills Christian Church, 778 Thompson Run Road.

Items needed for the food drive include stuffing, canned vegetables, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, “take and bake” bread, canned fruit, juice and baked goods mixes.

Cash or checks also can be donated by dropping them off or mailing them to North Hills Christian Church, c/o Family Food Bags, 778 Thompson Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
